LAKESIDE RECLAMATION LANDFILL

WE NEED YOU TO HELP GOVERNMENT AGENCIES GET THIS FACILITY UNDER CONTROL!

***On February 12th, 6:30 pm, DEQ will hold a public meeting at Washington County offices cafeteria regarding Lakeside's Remedial Investigation completed in December. Groundwater contamination and the environmental safety of Lakeside dump will be discussed. Please come and show your support. We are making a difference. ***

This unlined landfill with a failed cover is located on the banks of the Tualatin River, partly on flood plain and partly on high value farmland. It operates under a DEQ permit but has never obtained any building permits for its facilities or proper land use approvals from Washington County.  Lakeside has a history of accepting unpermitted materials and has contaminated surrounding groundwater.

Lakeside Reclamation Landfill operates under the authority of a Franchise Agreement granted by the Washington County Board of Commissioners and  has been repeatedly issued Notices of Noncompliance by DEQ for failing to comply with environmental regulations.  Lakeside Reclamation landfill has failed to report such violations to Washington Co. Officials as required by terms of their franchise permit.

Dust from Lakeside landfill drifts over surrounding orchards, vineyards and the Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge

In 2006 Lakeside was cited by the DEQ for accepting these bags of dangerous asbestos waste.

In another recent incident the DEQ cited Lakeside for taking 1.3 million lbs. of toxic chromium waste.
